Senior Credit Controller (Hybrid Working) based in Derby

Permanent - 37 hours per week - Monday – Friday (Hybrid working model)

£32,125 rising to £33,655 per annum following successful completion of 6-month probation

We are delighted to be recruiting for two brand new Senior Credit Controller positions to sit within our growing credit control team. This is a key role where you will be responsible for driving strong cash collection performance while supporting our residents and their families with clarity, empathy and professionalism.

Reporting directly to the Credit Manager, you will take full ownership of your own ledger, take responsibility for maximising cash flow, and act as the first point of escalation for more complex queries and complaints. You will mentor a credit control assistant and work collaboratively across Operations and finance to deliver an efficient, people centred credit control service.

What you will be doing:

  • Take full ownership of your ledger and delivering consistent, proactive cash collection.
  • Reduce aged debt and ensure timely follow up on outstanding balances
  • Acting as first line of escalation for payment issues, disputes and complaints
  • Building positive and supportive relationships with residents and internal colleagues.
  • Coaching and supporting credit control assistants to strengthen performance and knowledge.
  • Work closely with the Credit Manager to improve processes and support wider financial targets.
  • Communicating clearly and sensitively when discussing balance and payment expectations.

  • Proven experience in credit control with a strong track record of cash collection
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally
  • Demonstrable experience in resolving complex issues and managing escalations
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior team members
  • Highly organised, proactive and focused on achieving results.
  • A true team player, someone who values collaboration, supports colleagues, and contributes positively to a cohesive high performing team.
