We have a truly exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate Director of Finance – Commercial Finance and Procurement to join MHA, a values-led charity helping others live later life to the fullest.

About the role

The Associate Director of Finance – Commercial Finance and Procurement is responsible for supporting the organisation to optimise values-led surplus generation across MHA.

Through the delivery of effective business partnering support from the commercial finance team the role ensures that financial insight, strong business partnering and effective management information actively shape decisions, identifying and delivering values-led surplus improvement initiatives, enabling the charity to meet its strategic objectives.

The Associate Director of Finance – Commercial Finance & Procure acts as the organisational lead for optimising the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the purchasing process aligned to the procurement strategy alongside management of the supply base with the outsourced procurement function (provided by Marr Procurement) ensuring the delivery of measurable efficiencies, robust supply-chain performance and compliant, high impact procurement practice.

The role will also lead the development and delivery of Phase 2 of the One MHA Business Plan growth strategy, owning the evaluation of opportunities for acquisitions, disposals as well as strategic partnerships.

You will report to the Director of Finance, IT and Procurement and manage a team of 12 with 5 direct reports. You will lead, motivate and develop the team ensuring high performing and effective Commercial Finance and Management Information teams with a customer service focus.

This role is intended to be the natural successor to the Director of Finance, IT & Procurement.

About you

You will be a seasoned commercial finance leader who works proactively and pragmatically with high energy and commitment.  You will be a qualified professional accountant, with proven experience managing and developing teams, leading from the front to successfully deliver projects with a customer service mind-set.   You will be experienced at developing strong, effective and trusting relationships across the organisation ensuring that commercial finance is engaged, engaging and at the forefront of decision making. The ethos of achieving and delivering sustainable values-led surplus generation is critical in this role and organisation.

You will be a natural communicator, with excellent numerical skills adept at interpreting complex financial issues and presenting them to a range of audiences including non-financial audiences. 

You will have excellent self-management and organisational skills, consistently delivering high quality outputs to tight deadlines.

Ideally you will have experience working in a geographically dispersed organisation where financial literacy isn’t the key priority for the majority of the workforce.
