Hours: 37 per week

Salary: £110 - £115k per annum, pro rata for part time

About Us

As the UK's largest not for profit care provider, MHA enables people to live later life well through the commitment of 6,500 colleagues and dedication of 3,500 volunteers. Through specialist care homes, thriving retirement living and vibrant community groups, we inspire the best care and wellbeing at every stage of later life.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of IT to join MHA, a values-led charity helping others live later life to the fullest.

About the role

After a significant programme of investment across the IT estate, the Head of IT will be critical in defining and implementing the IT, Digital and Data Strategy and will be accountable for its delivery.  You will also lead IT operations across the organisation which will support and enable the wider strategic Business Plan.

You will report to the Director of Finance, IT and Procurement and manage a team of 22 with 6 direct reports. You will lead, motivate and develop the team ensuring a high performing and effective IT team with a customer service focus.

About you

You will be a seasoned technology leader who works proactively and pragmatically with high energy and commitment.  You will have a track record of developing teams and leading from the front to successfully deliver projects with a customer service mind-set.   You will develop trusting relationships across the organisation ensuring that IT is engaged, engaging and at the forefront of decision making.

You will be an effective communicator ensuring non-IT professionals grasp and understand the technical issues without relying on Tech-speak.

Ideally you will have healthcare sector experience or experience working in a geographically dispersed organisation where IT literacy isn’t the key priority for the majority of the workforce.

In return we offer a committed and supportive team and a great staff membership scheme which includes training, pension, life assurance, access to high street vouchers and lots more.

Why join?

You will be joining an organisation with strong values, a highly supportive culture and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of employees. In addition, you will work alongside highly motivated colleagues in an environment of strong teamwork whilst also having fun. This is a hugely rewarding role and a career to be proud of where every day you will go home knowing you made a positive difference to the lives of older people.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

MHA are fully committed to the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) as this is embedded in our values: respect, nurture and inspire. In addition, as a committed employer we have been awarded level 2 under the Disability Confident Scheme.
