Salary: £12.60 per hour

About the role

We are looking for a reliable and caring Laundry Assistant to join our team at MHA. This is an important role, helping to ensure residents’ clothing, bedding and linen are cleaned to a high standard, while always respecting dignity, privacy and personal choice.

As a Laundry Assistant, you will play a key part in maintaining a safe, hygienic and comfortable environment for residents, supporting their wellbeing and helping them feel at home.

What you will do

  • Operate laundry equipment safely and in line with training and manufacturer guidance.
  • Sort, wash, dry and iron residents’ clothing, bedding and linen, following care labels and instructions.
  • Safely manage infected laundry and prevent cross-contamination in line with infection control procedures.
  • Distribute clean laundry to residents’ rooms and linen cupboards, reporting unidentified items as needed.
  • Carry out basic mending and identify items requiring dry cleaning.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness within the laundry area and ensure equipment is clean and well maintained.
  • Follow COSHH, manual handling, health & safety and infection prevention requirements at all times.
  • Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice.
  • Attend training, supervision, appraisals and staff meetings as required.

About you

We are looking for someone who is dependable, organised and takes pride in their work.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience of laundry work (desirable).
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • The ability to follow instructions and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • A positive, flexible approach to work.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of older people and a commitment to quality service.
  • Willingness to undertake training and development.
  • A QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
