About the role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Coffee Shop Assistant to join our team at MHA. This is a rewarding role where you will help create a warm and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff, while supporting day-to-day catering services within the home or scheme.
As a Coffee Shop Assistant, you will prepare and serve refreshments, maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and play an important part in ensuring residents feel comfortable, valued and supported.
What you will do
- Prepare and serve snacks, meals and drinks to residents and visitors in the coffee shop and dining areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the coffee shop and dining areas in line with food safety requirements.
- Welcome visitors to the home and assist with enquiries, contacting relevant staff when needed.
- Work closely with the Cook and other colleagues to support food ordering, deliveries and service.
- Wash, store and care for crockery and utensils appropriately.
- Ensure adequate supplies of food, beverages, crockery and cleaning materials are available.
- Follow cash handling and accounting procedures in line with MHA policies.
- Attend training, staff meetings, supervisions and appraisals as required.
About you
We are looking for someone who is approachable, organised and enjoys working with people.
You will bring:
- Previous experience of basic food preparation.
- A basic food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Good communication and listening skills, with a friendly and helpful manner.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and use your own initiative.
- Good numeracy skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Sensitivity to the needs of older people and a commitment to customer-focused service.
- A flexible approach to work, including weekends.
