Systems Solutions Analyst (Fixed Term) based at Derby
37 hours per week (Hybrid working 2/3 days per week in Derby) - Fixed Term for 2 years
Salary– £33,410 per annum

We are seeking an experienced Systems Solutions Analyst initially on a 24-months fixed term contract basis to be part initiatives of our programme of change. This role will sit as part of the IT Team and work in partnership with the Operational Leads to ensure continued seamless delivery of business-as-usual IT tasks whilst being part of continuous improvement and strategic projects.
About you
The ideal candidate will be an analytical and solution-focused professional with proven experience in incident management, issue resolution and able to translate business needs into solutions. The ideal candidate would have exposure to working with finance systems.
You are confident at gathering requirements, working closely with stakeholders and understanding problems, and producing clear guidance needed for further development or as a knowledge base.
You should have hands-on experience across the systems lifecycle from analysis, requirements gather, design to testing, implementation and on-going support.
You are a strong communicator who can manage stakeholders. A team player who can work independently when needed. You continuously seek to improve systems, streamline processes and deliver measurable value.
Key Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Gather and analyse requirements: Ask questions to clarify problems. Meet with users, operational and third-party support teams to capture requirements and drive issues to resolution. Taking ownership of incoming incidents — logging, prioritising, updating, and driving them through to resolution.
- Supporting and improving existing systems: Troubleshooting errors, analysing logs/data, responding to incidents or user queries.
- Translating business needs into technical solutions: Translate requirements into systems guidance, specifications or designs, creating workflows and documentation which helps to outline the how to resolve an incident or how something should work.
- Testing and validating solutions: Testing features, logging defects, working with users to confirm outcomes. Write or support the writing of test cases. Coordinate or participated in testing such as component, functional, user acceptance testing
- Documentation and communication: Keep records and guides up to date. Produce system documentation, process maps, user guides, test materials. Communicate updates, risks, and changes to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with support teams and vendors to resolve issues efficiently: Working with internal support services and external vendors to escalate issues, support incident resolution, and contribute to service reviews.
- Support continuous improvement and project activities: Contribute to root‑cause analysis, system enhancements, small project work, and process improvement initiatives.
Key experience:
- Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving: Diagnosing system problems and root cause analysis. Improving system reliability and performance through fixing system or data issues.
- Hand on experience with systems analysis: Experience of documenting issue resolution through knowledge articles, systems diagrams, documenting workflows
- Able to translate business needs into technical solutions: Gathering and analysing requirements from stakeholders to convert into issue resolution.
- Experience of end-to-end delivery: Requirements, design, build, test, deploy, support
- Stakeholder management & communication: Proven experience of working with business users, developers and vendors.
- Technical exposure: Databases, SQL, APIs, Integrations, ODBC connectors, Azure Data Factory, SharePoint, Power Automate, PowerApps, process automation-RPA and generative AI
- Operational exposure: Experience of Financial Systems such as Open Accounts, eBIS, V1 and Caresys, Cloud Financials, Care Cloud
- Experience of improving processes and gaining efficiencies: Removing duplication within tasks, reducing processing errors or times, automation
- Documentation & Governance: Experience of clearly documenting audit trails. Maintain systems documentation and produced robust knowledge bases.

- Clear communication & stakeholder management: able to explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues, gather requirements, and keep stakeholders informed of changes.
- Problem-solving mindset: logical, analytical approach to diagnosing issues and presenting pragmatic, reliable solutions.
- Strong prioritisation & issue management: able to triage incidents/requests, balance conflicting demands, and focus on what’s business critical.
- Collaboration and relationship building: works well with internal teams and third-party vendors; builds effective working relationships at all levels.
- Resilience under pressure: stays effective in a changing environment, handles incidents calmly, and adapts to shifting priorities.
Experience with
- Agile working
- Operational Finance Systems
- Exposure to technologies such as Azure Data Factory, SharePoint, Power Automate
- Producing supporting IT governance including IT assessments, requirements gather, design, architecture, data, testing and other support or project materials
Location
This a hybrid role with the primary work location being in Derby. The ideal is to have on-site presence which supports collaborative effective team working with a mix of working from home. MHA supports hybrid working arrangements, balancing flexibility and productivity with an ideal of two days per week in the office.
