Community co-ordinator roles

Community Coordinator based at MHA Communities Swindon
Fixed term 12 months – Part Time – 8 hours per week.
£27,369.00 Per annum (pro-rata for part time)

A great opportunity to work in your local community to support older people to increase
social inclusion.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in Swindon. You will be
required to travel around the district so a driving licence and access to a car is also
required. Administrative duties and record keeping will require applicants to be competent
with a variety of digital packages including Microsoft Word and Excel.
A prior experience and/or willingness to deliver food-based activities and cooking will be
required as many of our activities provide light refreshments such as hot drinks and
biscuits at a minimum but can range up to full lunch club depending on the local need or
funding.
The MHA Communities Coordinator holds responsibility for organising and delivering a
programme of activities tailored to meet local needs, with the scope of these activities
adaptable based on demand. Importantly, this role offers the opportunity to develop and
establish new services and groups from the ground up, allowing for innovative and locally
relevant community engagement initiatives to be created and expanded. This involves
assessing community interests, collaborating with stakeholders and building sustainable
activity groups that promote meaningful engagement and wellbeing within the community.
All activities will seek to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote the
wellbeing of older people across a range of community settings.
This programme could include any mix from MHA’s core service offering – such as
befriending, lunch clubs, social outings or clubs. In addition, the post holder will be
required to develop new activities based on feedback from and the needs of the
community – this could include coordinating with other organisations such as local
colleges to offer IT classes or arranging for a local professional to deliver a series of
exercise groups.
We are always interested in hearing from applicants that may have specialist skills and/or
interests that could enhance the scheme offer such as knowledge of benefits services &
support, nursing & care, adult education, nutrition, fitness instruction, music etc so please
do make these skills/interests clear in your application.
The Community Coordinator will work closely with a variety of internal and external
stakeholders and so good communication is as important as having strong organisation
skills.
