Data Integrations Engineer

37 hours per week (Hybrid working 2/3 days per week in Derby)

Salary– £66,000 per annum

About the role

This is a rare opportunity to join our team at the beginning of a journey as part of broader Organisation transformation initiatives commence.  By fostering inclusivity and care, we work collaboratively to improve the wellbeing of our residents, colleagues, customers and communities.

We are looking for an experienced Data Integrations Engineer to join our IT Team for a 24-month fixed term contract. This role will work closely with the Data Architect and Operational Leads to support both day-to-day IT operations and strategic change initiatives. You will play a key part in the design, implementation and maintenance or robust integration solutions that align with and support our enterprise strategy.

Reporting & Relationships
Report directly to the Systems Solutions Manager. Build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, acting as a brand ambassador for MHA by embodying our values: respect, dignity, nurturing mind and spirit, and inspiring excellence in others.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience of digital transformation programmes.

You will be an experienced Data Integrations Engineer with good understanding of the cloud, databases in general, and the applications and programs used to maximise their potential. You will understand all the phases of Data Modelling, including conceptualisation and database optimisation. You will have experience as a Data Engineer and hold a bachelor’s degree or substantial experience in the relevant areas.

Key Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data integrations and pipelines across cloud and on-premises platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory/Fabric and equivalent tools).
  • Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes (extraction, transformation, loading) to meet business, reporting, and analytics requirements.
  • Implement data quality, validation, and monitoring controls to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely data flows.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and prevent integration incidents; continuously improve performance, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to gather requirements, design interfaces, and deliver end-to-end integrations.
  • Embed data security, privacy, and governance standards into integration designs, including access controls and auditability.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation (data flows, mappings, runbooks) and contribute to best practices and automation.

Key experience:

  • Proven experience in delivering end-to-end integrations using platforms, ideally Azure Data Factory / Microsoft Fabric, including designing, building, and supporting production data pipelines.
  • Hands-on ETL/ELT delivery: implementing data extraction, transformation, and loading patterns, and being able to explain design choices (e.g., performance, maintainability, reprocessing).
  • Proven experience of building automation of workflows using tools such as Power Automate (and/or Make), showing how they’ve streamlined operational processes and reduced manual effort.
  • Proven experience of operating in cloud and hybrid environments, including moving/integrating data between on-prem and cloud services and handling connectivity, security, and operational constraints.
  • Proven experience of troubleshooting and optimising live data pipelines, including monitoring, root-cause analysis, incident resolution, and performance tuning.
  • Working effectively with stakeholders and third parties: gathering requirements, managing dependencies, communicating change, and producing clear documentation/handovers for support and knowledge sharing.

Personal skills

  • Clear communication & stakeholder management: able to explain technical integration concepts to non-technical colleagues, gather requirements, and keep stakeholders informed of changes.
  • Problem-solving mindset: logical, analytical approach to diagnosing issues and designing pragmatic, reliable solutions.
  • Strong prioritisation & issue management: able to triage incidents/requests, balance conflicting demands, and focus on what’s business critical.
  • Collaboration and relationship building: works well with internal teams and third-party vendors; builds effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Resilience under pressure: stays effective in a changing environment, handles incidents calmly, and adapts to shifting priorities.

Experience with

  • Azure Data Factory, Fabric, Make
  • Solid engineering fundamentals
  • Production-grade operational thinking
