A great opportunity to work in your local community to support older people to increase social inclusion.We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in Portsmouth and Havant. You will be required to travel around the district (Emsworth, Waterlooville, Havant and Drayton) so a driving licence and access to a car is also required. Administrative duties and record keeping will require applicants to be competent with a variety of digital packages including Microsoft Word and Excel.


A prior experience and/or willingness to deliver food-based activities and cooking will be required as many of our activities provide light refreshments such as hot drinks and biscuits at a minimum but can range up to full lunch club depending on the local need or funding.
The MHA Communities Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and running a programme of activities, the scope of which will vary depending upon local need. This current post includes the delivery of group with the help of qualified instructors or keen volunteers. Our current group offer includes: Singing for Wellbeing and Steady and Strong exercise classes. Your role will be to manage money, scheduling membership and represent MHA to key stakeholders.
All activities will seek to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote the wellbeing of older people across a range of community settings.


This programme could include any mix from MHA’s core service offering – such as befriending, lunch clubs, social outings or clubs. In addition, the post holder will be required to develop new activities based on feedback from and the needs of the community – this could include coordinating with other organisations such as local colleges to offer IT classes or arranging for a local professional to deliver a series of exercise groups.

The Community Coordinator will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and so good communication is as important as having strong organisation skills.
