Head of People Operations based at Derby

Location: Derby/Hybrid working (with travel across MHA locations as required)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: Circa £80k per annum


We're looking for an experienced and values driven Head of People Operations to join our People and Communications leadership team.

As a member of MHA's Senior Leadership Team, you will play an important role in shaping organisational strategy, providing corporate leadership, and helping ensure MHA continues to deliver outstanding services for older people.

As Head of People Operations and a member of MHA's Senior Leadership Team, you'll provide both strategic and operational leadership across the People function, ensuring high quality, consistent and compliant people services that enable colleagues and managers to thrive.

Working closely with executive and senior leaders across MHA, you'll help shape organisational strategy while leading the continuous development of People Operations, including HR business partnering, employee relations, HR administration and compliance.

You'll lead a talented team and play a key role in ensuring our people services are efficient, supportive and aligned with organisational priorities, while helping us create a positive colleague experience across the employee lifecycle.

You'll also champion the use of technology, automation and data-driven insight for continuous improvement

What you'll be doing:
Leading the People Operations function, including HR Business Partnering, Employee Relations, HR Administration and Compliancet.

  • Contributing as an active member of MHA's Senior Leadership Team and supporting the delivery of organisational strategy.
  • Driving continuous improvement across HR processes, systems and service delivery.
  • Providing strategic people advice and support to senior leaders.
  • Ensuring effective governance, compliance and risk management across People Operations.
  • Championing innovation, digital solutions, automation and AI-enabled tools to improve colleague experience and operational efficiency.
  • Building capability across the People function and supporting leaders to create high-performing, inclusive teams

    You'll be an experienced senior HR leader with a expert understanding of employment law, people operations and organisational change.

    You'll bring:

    • Significant senior level experience leading HR services within a complex organisation.
    • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
    • Experience of driving service improvement and operational excellence.
    • A strategic mindset combined with a practical, collaborative approach.
    • Experience of using technology, data and innovation to improve services, insight and colleague experience.
    • A passion for developing people, building capability and creating positive workplace cultures.
    • A commitment to MHA's values and purpose.

    Ways of Working:
    Regular onsite presence is important to enable visible leadership, build strong relationships across the People function, support and develop teams, contribute effectively to Senior Leadership Team activity, and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation. You will therefore need to work an average of 2-3 days per week at our Head Office in Derby.
