Cook & Domestic Assistant (20 Guaranteed Hours + Flexible Kitchen Assistant Shifts)
Location: Amathea, Workington
Hours:
- Permanent Part Time - 20 guaranteed hours per week
- Cook: Monday - 7:30am-6:00pm (10 hours worked, 30-minute break)
- Domestic Assistant: Tuesday or Thursday (flexible) - 8:00am-6:30pm (10 hours worked, 30-minute break)
- Plus the opportunity to pick up additional flexible Kitchen Assistant relief shifts
Pay Rates:
- Cook - £14.78 per hour
- Domestic Assistant - £13.45 per hour
- Kitchen Assistant (Relief) - £13.45 per hour
For this role, we are currently considering candidates who live within approximately 15 miles of the Care Home. This helps ensure commuting remains manageable and supports a healthy work-life balance. If you live slightly further away but feel the journey is suitable, we'd still love to hear from you.

This unique opportunity combines two permanent part-time roles with the flexibility to pick up additional Kitchen Assistant shifts when they suit you.
You'll become an important part of our friendly team, helping create nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and supporting residents to enjoy every day.
What you'll be doing
As our Cook, you'll:
- Prepare and cook nutritious, home-style meals for residents
- Cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences
- Maintain high food hygiene and safety standards
- Order and manage kitchen supplies
- Work alongside colleagues to provide an excellent dining experience
As our Domestic Assistant, you'll:
- Keep residents' bedrooms and communal areas clean and welcoming
- Follow infection prevention and cleaning procedures
- Help create a comfortable home environment
- Work as part of a supportive housekeeping team

You'll also have the opportunity to pick up additional Kitchen Assistant shifts on a relief basis, giving you extra earning potential and even greater variety.
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys cooking and preparing fresh meals
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Is reliable, organised and enjoys keeping busy
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Has a warm and caring approach
- Holds (or is willing to work towards) a Food Hygiene qualification
Previous experience in catering, hospitality, housekeeping or care would be welcomed, but it's your attitude and values that matter most.
