An activities coordinator with a resident at MHA Homewood, Leamington Spa

Community Co-ordinator based at MHA Communities South Somerset

Salary: £25,987.00 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)

Permanent - Part-time - 20 hours per week

A great opportunity to work in your local community to support older people to increase social inclusion. The main responsibilities will be across South Somerset.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in South Somerset. You will be required to travel around the district, so access to a car is also required. Administrative duties and record-keeping will require applicants to be competent with a variety of digital packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

The MHA Communities Co-ordinator is responsible for coordinating and running a programme of activities, the scope of which will vary depending upon local need. This current post includes the running of a social group and lunch club for older people in Farnborough.

All activities will seek to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote the wellbeing of older people across a range of community settings.

This programme could include any mix from MHA’s core service offering – such as befriending, lunch clubs, social outings or clubs. In addition, the post holder will be required to develop new activities based on feedback from and the needs of the community – this could include coordinating with other organisations such as local colleges to offer IT classes or arranging for a local professional to deliver a series of exercise groups.

We are always interested in hearing from applicants who may have specialist skills and/or interests that could enhance the scheme offer, such as knowledge of benefits services & support, nursing & care, adult education, nutrition, fitness instruction, music, etc so please do make these skills/interests clear in your application.
The Community Coordinator will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and so good communication is as important as having strong organisation skills.

For an informal discussion about the role, feel free to call Scheme Manager Tara Evans: 07565 296790 or email: tara.evans@mha.org.uk
