For this role, we are currently considering candidates who live within approximately 15 miles of the Scheme. This ensures commutes are manageable and support your wellbeing and work-life balance. Hinton Court
Hinton Court is a friendly and welcoming MHA retirement living scheme in Guisborough, home to a vibrant community of older people who live independently in their own apartments. Residents bring a wide range of interests, backgrounds, and life stories, and the scheme is shaped by a strong culture of neighbourliness, mutual support, and shared community life.

The scheme offers communal lounge, garden, on site hairdresser and regular visits from a beautician and podiatrist as well as opportunities for social connection through events, groups, and informal gatherings. While residents live independently, many value the reassurance of being part of a supportive community, especially during times of illness, transition, or bereavement.

Up until now Hinton Court has had a volunteer chaplain who was an integral part of Hinton Court, offering pastoral care, spiritual companionship, and opportunities for worship and reflection. Our new paid chaplain will be a visible presence around the scheme — spending time in shared spaces, visiting residents in their homes when invited, and supporting the community at moments of celebration, challenge, and loss.

Worship, prayer, and reflective activities will take place regularly, shaped by Christian tradition while remaining open and welcoming to residents of all faiths and none.

The scheme has strong links with the local methodist circuit and other community groups and there is plenty of scope to deepen these relationships further. The scheme manager and colleagues are supportive of chaplaincy and see it as a key part of helping residents feel known, connected, and able to live later life well.

Hinton Court has its own rhythm and character — often lively, sometimes quiet, always shaped by the independence, humour, and generosity of the people who call it home.

  • Visit residents in hospitals or other homes when required.
  • Act as an advocate for MHA within local faith communities.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings and residents’ or relatives’ meetings where appropriate.
  • Work in line with MHA policies, including safeguarding, infection prevention and health & safety.

About you

  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to relate well to people from all backgrounds.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • A flexible approach to working hours and a willingness to travel occasionally for meetings or training.
